Almost every girl grew up with the beautiful sweet stories of Disney’s princess. Unlike me, I grew up with the Japanese cartoons such as Pokémon, Doraemon and Mask rider. By the gorgeous princess, the magic, the happy ending story, it made me thought that Disney’s animations were created only for girls. Thus, I overlooked and avoided to see them since I was young. Recently, I went to Siam Paragon with a friend after finishing my examination. I had nothing to do in that time. So, my friend persuaded me to watch the movie ‘Inside Out’. I said “Ewwwwwwww…” It’s an animation with the five colorful characters with the weird posture. However, I went watching this movie with him and it made me know that I was wrong to overlook the movies from Disney.
It’s the story of an ordinary girl named Riley. In her mind, there are five emotions: Joy who brings her happiness, Fear who protects her from danger, Anger who takes care of her fairness, Disgust who avoids her from something disgusted and Sadness who makes her feel blue. They live in the sphere and control Riley’s mind. Moreover, they order the memory balls which its color depends on the emotion of memory. There is the big problem on Riley’s first day at her new school after moving a new home, when Sadness turns an important memory ball into the blue one, it makes her cry in front of the classmates. Joy tries to take it back before it’s sent to long term memory but she fails. Joy and Sadness is ejected from the sphere, leaving Anger, Fear and Disgusted to control the Headquarters console by themselves. They have to find the way back to Headquarters. Otherwise, Riley won’t feel happy forever.
After watching it, it feels like I discover my brain. I look to my mind and see that which characters I’m similar to the most and which characters is controlling my thoughts right now. Many scenes aren’t only illustrate general events and memories, but they also remind some fading memories which we forgot unintentionally. When we were young, we’re in the embrace of happiness. We kept only good memories. But when we grew up, we had to face many problems in our life. We knew disappointment, sadness, painful. However, this movie teaches me that even being optimistic and enjoying with everything is good. But we don’t have to force ourselves to be happy if we don’t want. Some feelings, even sadness, have their own worth. We just have to control and express our feeling to the right place and time.
In this time, I change my attitude about Disney’s animation and I can say openly that I love this movie. If you watch this movie, you will love the character ‘Sadness’, which everyone concludes that she is useless, like me. She tries to help everyone as much as possible and she teaches that everybody has their own worth. So don’t let anyone bring you down. Hope you guy enjoy this movie. 🙂
