What is the most important thing that we want from any relationship? The answer is trust. Every relationship either friends or family or lovers, or someone else, trust is perhaps the most vital. Without trust, there is no friendship, and without friendship, there is no love. We cannot deny that trust is something that we all want, both in ourselves trusting others and others trusting us. It seems like trust is so valuable, and hard to define. However, from my view point, trust is fragile and can be defined as a glass which is hard to make, easy to break and when it’s broken, it will never be the same.
To make a glass, you have to put a lot of materials together, melt them at a high temperature, shape them and wait until they cool. Its process is hard and takes long time to do. Similarly, trust also hard and takes long time to build up. To trust someone is like we put our heart in their hands and believe that they will never throw it away. People whom we trust will always tell us the truth and not hide anything. As a result, it is hard to give a trust to anyone. In addition, trust takes a long time to build up because before we trust someone, we have to take a great deal of time learning his personality and his behavior until we are sure that he is good enough for giving our trust on.
Having someone to trust is a wonderful feeling and to be told you are trusted is an even greater feeling. But you should never take advantage of that trust because trust can be broken down easily like a glass, and after that, it will never be the same. For instance, people whom we trust, such as our friends, we are able to tell them a secret because we know they won’t reveal it to the third person. But if we know the secret is revealed to others behind our backs, what will happen? Our trust given to them will be decreased, perhaps decreased from 100 percent to 50 percent or 100 percent into 0. As you can see, broken trust cannot be as perfect as the one before broken.
Trust is a worthy feeling which is hard to give and receive from someone. So, if you have got a trust from someone already, think carefully before doing something that can ruin his trust because trust takes a year to build, seconds to break and forever to repair.
